In the mountainous region of Gilgit-Baltistan, a picturesque landscape has transformed into a scene of chaos and challenge. Intermittent rain and snowfall have cast a wintry spell, disrupting daily life and connectivity. The formidable Karakoram Highway and Baltistan Road, vital lifelines for the region, now stand blocked at multiple points due to treacherous landslides triggered by the inclement weather.

As nature's fury unfolds, thousands of stranded passengers, encompassing a spectrum of ages and backgrounds, face the bitter chill of sub-zero temperatures. The roads, usually bustling with activity, now lay silent and impassable. Achar Nallah in Kohistan and the Thore area bear witness to the roadblocks on the Karakoram Highway, where countless vehicles and their occupants find themselves marooned.

In the Roundu area of Skardu, the Baltistan Road, cloaked in heavy snowfall, presents a similar tableau of isolation. The beauty of the landscape contrasts sharply with the plight of those stranded, highlighting the fragility of human endeavors in the face of nature's might.

Ghizer-Shandur Road in the Bargho area adds to the woes, rendering link roads and inter-district routes impassable. The upper realms of Ghizer, Hunza, Nagar, Skardu, Shigar, Kharmang, Astore, and Ghanche are blanketed in three to six inches of snow, turning the terrain into a formidable challenge for travelers.

Amidst the chaos, a rockfall near Bagcha village of Roundu resulted in a fortunate escape for four passengers, though their vehicle bore the brunt of nature's force. Flights between Islamabad and Skardu, as well as Gilgit, were grounded, leaving air travel paralyzed.

Electricity, mobile networks, and internet connectivity experienced disruptions, plunging the region into temporary isolation. Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Haji Gulbar Khan, issued directives to the disaster management authority and local administrations to mobilize resources for road rehabilitation and assistance to those in need.

As the region grapples with unexpected weather upheavals after a period of dry conditions, the resilience of the people and the concerted efforts of authorities become paramount. In the midst of this meteorological turmoil, a call echoes through the mountains: a plea for caution, preparedness, and a shared determination to weather the storm together.

گلگت بلتستان کے پہاڑی علاقے میں، ایک خوبصورت منظر نامہ میں چین اور چیلین کا منظر تبدیل ہو گیا ہے۔ دورہ وار برفباری نے روزمرہ کی زندگی اور مواصلات میں خلل ڈال دیا ہے۔ موسمی تبدیلی کی بنا پر خطرناک زمینی اسلپ کے باعث، علاقے کے لئے حیاتی خطوطِ حیات، کاراکرم ہائیوے اور بلتستان روڈ، اب مختلف جگہوں پر رکاوٹوں میں کڑے کھڑے ہیں۔

جبکہ قدرت کا غضب آگاہ ہو رہا ہے، ہزاروں پھنسے ہوئے مسافر، مختلف عمر اور پس منظر کے لوگوں کو منفصل درجہ حرارتوں کی کڑوائیوں کا سامنا کر رہے ہیں۔ عام طور پر چالتے پھرتے راستوں پر، اب خاموش اور رُکاوٹ ڈال دی گئی ہے۔ کوہستان کی اچار نالہ اور تھور علاقہ، کاراکرم ہائیوے پر رکاوٹوں کے ذریعے زندگی اور راستے میں مشکلات کا شاہد ہیں، جہاں بے شمار گاڑیاں اور ان کے سفریں بے چین میں پھنس گئی ہیں۔

سکردو کے راؤنڈو علاقے میں، بلتستان روڈ جلدی بھاری برفباری میں ڈھکا ہوا، ایک ہی سینے کا ایک ہی مناظرِ تنہائی پیش کرتا ہے۔ منظرِ طبیعت کی خوبصورتی ان پھنسے ہوئے لوگوں کی دکھ دہراتی ہے، جو طبیعت کی طاقت کے سامنے انسانی کاوشوں کی ناپائیداری کو روشنی میں لانے میں کامیاب ہوتی ہے۔

برغو علاقے کے گھزر-شندور روڈ نے مشکلات میں شامل ہوتے ہیں، لنک روڈز اور انٹر ڈسٹرکٹ راستوں کو لاپرواہ بنا دیا ہے۔ گھزر، ہنزہ، نگر، سکردو، شگر، خرمنگ، آسٹور، اور غانچے کے اوپر کے حصے میں تین سے چھ انچ برف برف ہو گئی ہے، جو سفر کرنے والوں کے لئے مشکل بنا دیتی ہے۔

چیف منسٹر گلگت بلتستان، حاجی گلبار خان، نے آپس میں رابطہ بنانے اور ضرورتمندوں کی مدد کے لئے علاقائی انتظامات اور آفسوں کو ریسورسز موبلائز کرنے کے لئے ہدایات جاری کی ہیں۔

جبکہ علاقہ خود کو خشک شرائط کے بعد غیر متوقع موسمی تبدیلیوں کا سامنا کر رہا ہے، وہاں لوگوں کی استقامت اور حکومت کی متحد کرداریں اہم ہوتی ہیں۔ اس موسمی آفات کے درمیان، پہاڑوں میں ایک ندا گونجتی ہے: ہوشیاری، تیاری اور ملکر طوفان کا سامنا کرنے کا عہد۔
