CDA to Set Up 'Largest IT Park' in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken a significant step towards establishing Pakistan's largest Information Technology Park (IT Park) through a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors.

Approved by the CDA Board, a substantial 3.3-acre plot has been earmarked in Sector G-10 for the ambitious IT Park project, slated to be a pioneering endeavor in the country.

The allocated plot is set to accommodate a sprawling covered area of 100,000 square feet, designed to facilitate the simultaneous work of 5,000 to 6,000 freelancers. This state-of-the-art IT Park is envisioned to house dedicated spaces for freelancers and startups, software houses, a well-equipped library, a cutting-edge research center, conference rooms, and areas for showcasing IT products.

The construction costs of the IT Park will be covered by private IT firms, which will also have the option to rent office spaces within the premises. However, upon completion, the IT Park will be handed over to the CDA.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need for concrete measures to bolster the country's IT exports, underscoring the significance of initiatives like the IT Park in achieving this goal.

The establishment of this IT Park marks a significant milestone in Pakistan's journey towards becoming a regional IT hub. With its strategic location in Sector G-10 and its comprehensive facilities, the park is expected to attract top talent and companies from the IT industry, both domestically and internationally.

The decision to create the IT Park through a public-private partnership demonstrates the government's commitment to fostering innovation and growth in the IT sector. By leveraging the expertise and resources of the private sector, the IT Park is poised to become a vibrant ecosystem that nurtures entrepreneurship, creativity, and collaboration.

One of the key features of the IT Park is its focus on supporting freelancers and startups. With dedicated working spaces and access to essential amenities, the park will provide a conducive environment for these entities to thrive. Additionally, the inclusion of a research center and conference rooms will enable knowledge sharing and networking opportunities, further enhancing the ecosystem's value.

Moreover, the IT Park's emphasis on showcasing IT products and services will not only promote local innovation but also attract potential investors and clients. This, in turn, is expected to boost the growth of the IT industry in Pakistan and contribute significantly to the country's economy.

Overall, the establishment of the country's largest IT Park is a testament to Pakistan's commitment to embracing digital transformation and harnessing the power of technology for socio-economic development. As the project moves forward, it is hoped that it will serve as a beacon of innovation and excellence, inspiring future generations to explore the vast potential of the IT sector.
