Sindh to Recruit Arts and Music Teachers for Govt Colleges

The Sindh government has taken a significant step towards promoting arts and music education in government colleges. According to recent reports, the government has announced plans to recruit fine arts and music lecturers in colleges across the province. Recruitment of Music Teachers
In a first, the Sindh government has recruited 319 music teachers in schools, with plans to hire 400 more in the next tenure. This initiative is part of the government's flagship project to promote arts and music education in the province. The recruitment process was conducted at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), and certificates from the National Music Academy were made mandatory for recruitment.

Protests by Music Teachers
However, the recruitment process has not been without its challenges. Music teachers who were selected for the posts have been protesting against the government's decision to not provide them with joining letters. The teachers, who were invited to collect their joining letters, were told that there was a ban on employment, leading to widespread protests across the province.

Introduction of Fine Arts and Music in Colleges
The Sindh Education and Development Minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, has emphasized the need to introduce fine arts and music lecturers in colleges to enable students to make informed career choices. The minister has also stressed the need to modernize college education in Sindh to meet contemporary demands. The government has announced plans to introduce skill-based education, information technology, and other new subjects in colleges.

Admissions in Sindh Colleges
The Sindh government has also announced plans to improve the college admission process in the province. The Sindh Electronic Centralized College Admission Program (SECCAP) is fully operational for online applications, with the deadline extended to August 31, 2024. Out of 355,577 available seats, 203,852 applications have been received, with 111,043 male and 92,809 female applicants approved.

Future Plans
The Sindh government has announced plans to recruit 1,500 art and music teachers for public schools in the province. The government has also announced plans to set up five science museums in different districts of the province. Additionally, the government has announced plans to upgrade schools in terms of infrastructure, with 600 schools already upgraded under the Sindh Early Learning Enhancement Through Classroom Transformation project.
