The 15th edition of the Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) recently concluded, marking yet another successful year of celebrating literature and ideas. The festival ended with a pledge to continue promoting the importance of literature in all its forms.

Over the course of three days, the KLF hosted a multitude of discussions on various themes, featuring nearly 200 speakers, including esteemed guests from foreign countries. The event truly served as a carnival of ideas, bringing together diverse perspectives and voices.

One of the highlights of the festival was the honoring of literary figures Zahra Nigah, Iftikhar Arif, Kishwar Naheed, and Muneeza Shamsie for their longstanding contributions to the festival and to the world of literature. Their dedication and passion for literature have been instrumental in shaping the literary landscape of Pakistan.

During the festival, Najeeba Arif delivered a keynote address, emphasizing the profound significance of literature, drawing parallels with its importance in the Quran. Her words resonated deeply with the audience, highlighting the enduring relevance of literature in our lives.

Another notable speaker, Jordanian scholar Joseph Massad, delved into the interconnectedness of liberalism and democracy, shedding light on their roles in modern governance. His insights provided valuable food for thought for all those in attendance.

The organizers of the festival, Maya Inayat Ismail and Arshad Saeed Hussain from the Oxford University Press Pakistan, expressed their gratitude to everyone involved in making the event a resounding success. Their hard work and dedication were evident in the seamless execution of the festival.

The grand finale of the KLF was a mesmerizing Qawwali performance by Najmuddin Saifuddin and Brothers, captivating the audience and leaving them spellbound. The performance was a fitting end to a festival that celebrated the richness and diversity of literature.
